Just a thought

I sometimes wonder whether there is an afterlife??? Whether some judgement awaits us in a better world? Does life have a purpose or are we all just moving towards oblivion. Is it the journey that is important or is the final destination all that matters? If only the journey matters then it is useless to be moral, to think of right and wrong, In terms of good and evil………...Morality is only pertinent when what we call the afterlife comes into the picture. If there is no purgatory, no heaven, hell then why must I do right when it may be more comfortable to do what is easier or self pleasing. Does it make any sense to do the good thing when no one is keeping count? How I wish this problem could be solved while I am alive so that I could make some real good lifestyle choices???

Good thought. But doesn't doing good gives you a satisfaction that can be far greater than doing the wrong thing. So, why worry about after-life when doing good is the right thing in the journey...

@ricky when a suicde bomber blows himself up he seriously believes he is doing good and the afterlife will provide him with the rewards for it...also when the culture vultures try to educate us about morals they also believe they are doing good...the idea of what is good really depends on where you are standing!!!wat say u?

it doesnt matter whether afterlife exists or not...we humans adhere by what is considered as right or wrong. So kartik start butchering ppl and lets see what happens to u? :P

Unfortunately, I dont expect any of us are gonna get that clear sign telling us there isnt a purgatory waiting for us so i think its safer to be the good guy and hope those who hurt ya get booted to the "GREAT DOWNSTAIRS"

hypothetically speaking, there still remains a 50% chance that there does exist an afterlife.
and if humans were to make choices on respective whims and fancies...no one could have survived the resultant anarchy ultimately...i mean one would eventually confront somebody-stronger and more powerful, more cunning.

@zzz_writer
wat u just described is the law of the jungle which is very much prevalent today...and my question was more about whether morals should be self imposed or due to fear of divine retribution...

hey kartik........srry for approvin ur comment on my blog a bit late.i was out of tch for some time....reading ur blog is really interesting.the flow of ur tghts is good..
considering the post above i thnk deciding whats good and bad has to be absolute and not relative. i believe what gives u pleasure without harming others is good, whats bad doesnt really matter when u know whats good...and yes reagrding the after life i guess do we have enuf time to thnk abt afterlife........i guess time is running a bit faster than us.....so living 'this life' is more imp.....anyways my views not necessarily crrct
cheers!!!!!!!
